The Unattributed project is built on the concept of transformation through the use of a generative music processes to produce the sounds. In these recordings a simulation of the ANS synthesizer is used as both the transformative and generative device.
The works on this release are of particular interest based on the depth and layers of sound that are achieved. The appearance of several audio illusions such as the bell / chime types of sounds are merely one aspect of the interesting portions of this recording. Another one is the appearance of rhythms that are internal to the image itself, and not specifically a part of the scanning process. (This is notable because the same or similar rhythmic patterns appear across multiple interpretations of variations on the image, while each of them is configured with different settings of the ANS emulator.)
It’s not always possible to explain the effects these recordings can have on the listener. Ranging anywhere from serene, simple tonal passages, to thick dense noises is an experience that is not something that many of us have a real grasp on. It is something that is worth experiencing.
