Scott Lawlor returns to CerebralAudio with a new Piano Improvisations release.
Unlike his previous release, he has turned his hand to using electronics instead of natural instruments. This adds a different set of textures and depths to this recording which brings about a completely different quality.
Scott takes the electronics works in very different directions on this release. Sometimes noisy and harsh, sometimes soft and subtle. There is no single type of style of electronics, nor any single school of synthesis that he focuses on.
The piano work on this release is as multi-dimensional as his use of electronics. Sometimes soft, sometimes harsh. Sometimes melodic, while other time rhythmic. Scott seeks to find different grounds between tonality and atonality in this work, often finding complex tonalities between the worlds of the acoustic and electronic.
(And he even sneaks in a child’s nursery rhyme or two along the way for good measure.)
