Walt Thisney is a musical wanderer. He has recorded many types of electronic music, jazz, and pop music. Now he has turned his attention towards a more classical style with Mysterioso.
Mysterioso is an album of predominantly piano duets, featuring violin, cello, bass and a few other instruments. Each of these pieces is steeped in mood and environment. An air of the mysterious pervades these works.
On pieces like “Archipelago”, “Barada” and “Netra” Walt finds himself to drawn to places, filling in a landscape for the pieces to fit within. On other pieces like “Fascination”, “Reflected In Dark” and “The Other” we are taken on a journey with Thisney’s sense of melody and melodic wanderings.
Mysterioso is a mixture of ideas new and familiar, real and ethereal, known and unknown. He wanders between these worlds leaving the listener with the impression that there is really a third world where both overlap. And that is the mystery, the knowledge that there may be another world that we cannot see, but we can hear in the performances of Walt Thisney.
